Happy New Year!!

Yip!  It's January and I haven't posted since October.  So much for my every month goal.  Sooo... what's been going on...

We had a Minnie Mouse party for little girly's 1st birthday, so that was fun.  She enjoyed it, got some nice pressies and didn't make too much of a mess with her smash cake.  That's a tradition they have in the States. 1-year-olds get their own cake (or slice of the cake) and people take pictures of them eating it or getting it all over the place.

Well, we spent quite a bit of November working on getting our adoption home-study all finished up so that was all approved and done by the beginning of December.  As of now, we're just waiting for a date to go to court.  :)

We had a very nice Thanksgiving at hubby's parents' house and a baby shower for my sister-in-law.

In December, my parents came over for a week, unexpectantly, as a friend at our church passed away.  They wanted to be at the memorial service.  In spite of the circumstances, it was nice to have them here.  While they were over, Lydia had an accident.  She jumped in the air and her feet missed the ground, coming down or something as she landed on her chin.  Thank goodness my parents were here.  They were able to stay home and put the little one to bed while we took her to the ER.  She got 10 stitches and told everyone she met (and still does) that the "Chin all better".  It was a very traumatic experience for her (and us).  They'd wrapped her in a blanket and taped her to the gurney.  It was like a straight-jacket.  They had to do it to keep her still.  It was horrible!  She screamed all the way through, even after they numbed it..

The day after my parents left, Mike pulled his back, picking up a bottle.  He just moved the wrong way or something.  He missed 20 hours of work and has been going to the chiropractor almost every day since, getting decompressed.  He's to start going to a physical therapist (physiotherapist).

Christmas Day was pretty good.  We stayed at home most of day.  Mike managed to make breakfast, sitting on an office chair and wheeling himself around the kitchen.  Mike read the story of Jesus's birth out of Luke, while I followed with the girls with a picture book based on the story in Luke.  The girls enjoyed the day and played with their new toys.  I spent a lot of the day washing dishes and preparing the dinner.  I was so tired I opted for paper plates instead of the best dinnerware, as originally intended.  The kids couldn't use most of those things anyway.  After dinner, we went out to look at some Christmas lights, in a neighbourhood on the other side of Lima.  Lydia's not a great eater when there's other things going on and didn't touch her Christmas dinner.  On the way home from the lights, we passed a closed McDonalds.  She wanted chicken nuggets.  All that special food and she wants McDonalds!!

Our New Year was the boringest we've had in years!  We didn't do a thing.  Well, we did get sparkling grape juice and Pringles!!  Yay!!  I think we'd worn ourselves out.  Besides Mike really wasn't up to anything with his back.

On the 4th, we went down south for the family Christmas dinner at Mike's uncle's.  The same night, Mike's sister had her twins so we became an Uncle and Auntie again!!  She had a boy and a girl, both reeeeally cute!  It was so great to be there at the right time and see them the same day they were born.  That was special!  On the way home, our car broke down.  It was a manufacturer problem that had been recalled so it was nice that was covered.  Thank the Lord we weren't too far away from Mike's parents as it was pretty cold and late.  We borrowed my father-in-law's pick-up truck and made our way home.

So, that's all the news!
